Ballooning - The Alpine Crossing in Austria

Scope of services:

Physical requirements:

• There are no special requirements
• General health
• No medically prescribed height restriction

Important Information:

This special adventures is only from November to February possible. Usually the season starts end of November.

Weather:

Safe balloon rides are only possible in good weather. In strong or gusty ground winds (over 5m / s), rain or bad visibility, the appointment may be delayed.

The day before the scheduled trip, the pilot will tell you exactly if a balloon trip is possible. Rarely, but due to weather or bad wind situations, a balloon ride can be canceled or postponed directly at the starting position. This is at the sole discretion of the responsible pilot.

Duration:

The total time required for this extraordinary experience is 2 days. The crossing of the Alps takes 3-4 hours. The ride height is between 1.500 meters and 3.000 meters above MSL - depending on the distance and airspace limitations of the Austrocontrol.

Location:

Meeting point is depending on wind conditions, usually at 8 am in in St. Johann in Tyrol or Zell am See. Immediately after arrival, we will start rigging the balloon. Then we take off into an unforgettable adventure!

The starting positions will be determined and announced by the responsible pilot one day before the trip starts at about 18:00 according to the wind directions.

Price information:

Price valid per person.

Group size:

4 to 10 people have space in the basket. If there are more passengers, they can be split into several balloons. This adventure can be booked also for individuals. The passenger lists are put together individually.

Spectators:

Spectators are always welcome at the take-off area.

Equipment / clothing:

The clothing needs to be according to the season. Please note that lower temperatures prevail at higher altitudes. Therefore, please be prepared for weather if it has about 15-20 less degrees compared to the ground.

Please bring your ticket or voucher to your balloon ride and hand it over to the pilot!

Flexibility:

Crossing the Alps in a Hot Air Balloon is only possible in short notice, so you need to have some flexibility in time.

Availability

Crossing the Alps requires very special wind conditions and is only possible about 2-4 times a year, from November to February.

You will be informed 2-3 days prior if or when the Alpine Crossing can take place. If you book a ticket or a voucher and the ride needs to be rescheduled you will be called again until you have time. We care for our customers and wish you an amazing adventure high above the alps.
